  • The battle of trenton was the same battle where George Washington made his famous crossing of the Delaware river. This battle was a pivotal part of the war.
  • The battle was easier because the hessians(mercenaries) lowered their guard believing that the continental army was not going to strike. Later on they were completely wiped out.
  • The battle soon began to inspire rebellions to overthrow their british rulers. Providing more land for the continentals. This does prove that this battle was pivotal for the war.
  • The battle soon made the colonists take over most of new jersey giving a foothold in the war. The colonists lured the british, defeated them, and captured princeton.
  • The battle was fought on christmas day, 1779
