Jeff Bignal was Young unmarried man who's father was killed. He now lives with he's mother by Harrisons row. He was short in height and very plumped.
The setting and time is Coal mining industry in 1930s around the British economy . Many conditions was happening around this time. By the twentieth century things started to improve.
Jeff left his fiddle he was very upset with not having it with him. He was taking his anger out on the people around him . He even told his mother "i'd do anything".
Second war started to begin Jeff was twenty-six at this time. He never really starterd a life other than the army. People still said he turned out pretty good. Jeff also sold his fiddle and has been okay without it.
The theme of the "Fiddle" is to escape some things in life. That's exactly what Jeff was using the fiddle for. He was so worried about it because he got use to leaning on it. So when it was no longer around everything started falling apart .
