Storyboard Text

  • Hey Santa, what did we learn in science class yesterday? I forgot.
  • We learned about how the Digestive and Excretory System works.
  • Yeah, the first thing we learned about was the mouth and salivary glands. Which starts the process of digestion.
  • Which I don't have.
  • After that we learned about the esophagus where food chewed goes down to the stomach where then it goes to the small intestine inside of it the villi take the nutrients out of the food. After that it goes to the large intestine and it absorbs water and forms feces. Finally, the feces goes to the rectum and comes out the anus.
  • Now about the excretory system. The excretory process starts with the kidneys. Inside the kidneys are nephrons. Nephrons separate the unwanted material from the blood and excess salt. After this come the ureters and these transport the unwanted materials to the bladder.
  • The bladder holds the urine and two muscles hold it closed which are called peristalsis. When you have to go to the bathroom the brain sends signals to the peristalsis to relax and open the bladder.
  • Oh, thanks. I hope I do good on the test today.
