  • The Governor
  • The Square Deal
  • Conservation
  •  Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt was governor of New York before becoming U.S. vice president. He was only there for a short period of time before becoming Vice President, at first he didn't want to run for election but he gave in anyway and won the election at that! from September 14, 1901 – March 4, 1909
  • International Achievement
  • Roosevelt was a man of the people. He believed that all people should be treated good. Therefore he offered the American people a Square Deal to improve their standard of living and apply more control over large domineering corporations or trusts, even though trusts were illegal Roosevelt didn't care.
  • Nobel Peace Prize
  • Teddy Roosevelt could be looked at as a nature freak. He is the first U.S president to put Conservation high on the national agenda, which is kind of a big deal. He literally set asides most federal land for things like National Parks and Bird Reserves. He established the US Forest Service, signed into law the creation of 5 National Parks and established the first 51 Bird Reserves and 150 National Forests
  • Workmen’s Compensation
  • Roosevelt had an idea that a canal across the Isthmus of Panama would be beneficial for the American Military and commercial interests. At first things didn't go as planned because Colombia refused America’s terms of building the canal, which leads to US Warships being involved to block sea lanes to thwart Colombia to suppress the rebellion.
  • Roosevelt was the first American to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize which is a giant accomplishment on his behalf. During the Russo-Japanese War Roosevelt  persuaded the parties involved to meet in a peace conference in Portsmouth. His persistent and effective mediation led to the signing of the Treaty of Portsmouth on September 5, ending the war.
  • By workers constantly getting hurt at work, mostly from textile factories, and railroads it started to show and Roosevelt wasn't having it! Roosevelt was the first to get Workmen's Compensation Laws passed. Once again he was all for the people, and what ever it took to protect them which is why he's one of the most popular presidents.
