The persians attack the greeks at the bay near the city of marathon. The greeks were outnumbered.
The greeks sent a guy called Pheidippides to run to Sparta and ask them for help. Sparta said not.
The greeks started fighting the persians. There were 48000 persians but only 10000 greeks. In the end, the greeks won. There were 6400 persians killed but only 192 greeks died.
The persians escaped on their ships but they then decided to attack athens since the army was not in the city.
The Greeks sent Pheidippides to Athen to tell them that they've won and about the attack. He ran 42 km and when he arrived, he told them that the greeks won and he died.
The greeks went back to athens and drove away the persians.
