I still don´t know

Storyboard Text

  • Charlie´s Candy and Algernon´s Cheese
  • Foreshadowing
  • I wanted to eat my candy...
  •
  • Charlie and Algernon´s Maze Race
  • I finally beat Algernon!
  •
  • Charlie and Algernon´s Feelings
  • We´re gonna be good friends, Algernon.
  •
  • In the story, Charlie says that Algernon´s motivation for doing and finishing tasks like the maze is being given cheese in his box. Before Charlie attempts again to beat Algernon in the maze experiment,  the nurses, testers, and other workers give Charlie candy before he starts. However, with Algernon symbolizing Charlie, Charlie does not get to eat his candy until the operation is completed, like Algernon.
  • Charlie and Algernon´s Anger
  • Why´d you bite me, Algernon?!
  • Not so much time passes and the operation has already started Charlie competing with Algernon in the maze race, Charlie still wasn´t able to beat him, not once. After many more losses, Charlie wishes he could be just as smart as Algernon. Until one day, Charlie was able to beat and surpass Algernon in the maze race, indicating that he did become smart like him.
  • Charlie´s Study
  • Once the maze race was over, Charlie held him and asked Burt if he could feed Algernon because he felt bad, but got denied. Burt told Charlie that Algernon had to solve a test every day to get fed, which made Charlie upset. This causes Charlie to befriend Algernon, foreshadowing how Charlie wants to be treated because of how he treats Algernon.
  • Algernon´s Death
  • Charlie is fired from his job at the Plastic Box Company by a petition signed by his fellow factory workers because of his attitude. Skipping to the future, Charlie witnesses a mentally crippled kid that was laughed at, causing him to get angry. Letting us anticipate that Algernon will be the same, with Charlie and Algernon symbolizing each other, and that surely happens when he shows signs like biting him and being uncooperative.
  • After witnessing and realizing Algernon and all of the other animals acting strange, Charlie starts researching what the cause for their behavior is and how he could be connected. Knowing well that what happens to Algernon would signify what would happen to him, Charlie wasted little time, spending day and night looking for answers. If Algernon had a sudden fall in intelligence, then Charlie was surely also going to have the same happen to him.
  • I have to find out what´s wrong with Algernon.
  • From Charlie´s research, his predictions were right. Evidence form direction show that Algernon´s brain decreased in weight, causing him to die. This foreshadows that Charlie will die young in the same way that Algernon did, and he is fully aware of that. Putting Algernon in a cheese box, Charlie buries him in his backyard.
  • RIP
