  • Hey Nick. What is Fusion
  • Oh Cool
  • Fusion is when two atoms fuse together and some of their mass is converted to energy. The energy released when two atoms fuse could be used as a sustainable energy source.
  • ?!?!?!?
  • Fusion can only be accomplished when the atoms are in plasma form. This requires the fuel to be at around 180,000,032 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • . Deuterium can be found in water and tritium is made of lithium, which can be found in seawater.
  • The fuel used for fusion is mainly made up of deuterium and tritium, which are both very abundant resources.
  • Are fission and fusion the same?
  • Fission is caused by splitting an atom into smaller atoms while fusion combines atoms to make a different one.
  • No they're polar opposites
  • Pros: Fusion produces very short lived radioactive waste which become safe very fast, fusion gives much more energy in relation to the amount of material put in, the material required for fusion is extraordinarily abundant. It is found in sea water. Cons: Very expensive to implement, needs insanely high heats to achieve fusion, no proof that it could be replicated on a commercial scale
  • What are the pros and cons.
  • Have a nice day.
