  • "Oh, no! You weren't fooled by that little idiot's routine, now, were you? Flowers, butterflies, leaves, sunsets, oh, hell! It's all in her file. I'll be damned. I've hit the bullseye. Look at the sick look on your face. A few grass-blades and the quarters of the moon. What trash. What good did she ever do with all that?" (pg. 52)

  •  Clarisse McClellan was the catalyst of Fahrenheit 451, she often asked questions and spoke of things nobody else cared about. She spoke about how the government had manipulated people by having high speed limits and removing books from people's lives. One day she was hit by a car, and later on it is revealed that was killed because of her individuality, and questioning of the society.

  • In Fahrenheit 451, Montag becomes suspicious of the world after he meets Clarisse, as well as Clarrise's disappearance. He asks Beatty questions like "what happens to people with books?" and he also asks himself things like "am I happy?" After hearing answers for his questions, he's still wary of the society and how its shaped the people of it. This ultimately leads to him searching for answers in books.
