  • When two kind gentlemen ask for Scrooge to donate money to the poor, he says he doesn't care about them, and is willing to let them die. This shows that Scrooge is cruel and heartless.

  • "Are these the shadows of things that Will be, or shadows of things that May be only?"
  • The Ghost of Christmas Past is filled in a room full of all kinds of foods, so he symbolizes Christmas dinner and parties and other celebrations.
  • Symbolism
  • "Are you the Spirit, sir, whose coming was foretold to me?"
  • When visiting his past, Scrooge feels sorry for himself because his father didn't let him come home for Christmas, and is conflicted.

  • "Tell me Tiny Tim will live"
  • The 3 spirits show that Scrooge will die if he doesn't change, so Scrooge becomes a better person. The theme is then the importance of change.
  • The ghost glows, which symbolized the ghost lighting the way for Scrooge to become a better person.
  • Scrooge really wants to know that Tiny Tim lives, which indirectly shows t Scrooge is becoming a better person.
