  • One midnight in the bleak December the narrator thought to himself while he was weak and weary. He started to nod off when suddenly he heard a tapping at his door..
  • Falling Action
  • The narrator decides it is time to open the door since he has been hesitant. He apologizes to whatever shall lye upon the other side of the door but when he opens it he finds darkness, and nothing more.
  • Resolution
  • After finding it was a raven tapping on his window and it flying inside his chamber, he starts to get impatient with the bird and taught it to tell him if there is balm in Gilead but the raven only will answer, "Nevermore."
  • The narrator begins to get infuriated by the bird and starts yelling at it to go back to the Night's Plutonian shore and to leave him alone in his loneliness, but again all the raven replies is "Nevermore."
  • After becoming infuriated with the raven he begins to yell at it to go back to the Night's Plutonian shore and to leave him to his loneliness, but once again all the bird replies is "Nevermore."
  • The raven still ponders upon his chamber door and after the narrator finds out he will not see the lost Lenore again he claims his soul lies floating on the floor and it shall be lifted nevermore.
