Before the Great Depression there was a boom in wealth. During WW1 businesses were making a lot of money and there were tons of jobs.
However, after the stock market crashed in 1929, things went downhill fast. People were losing their jobs extremely fast and the people who did have jobs were paid very little.
During this time people were introduced to the credit. People would buy things and pay later. However, during the depression a lot of families would be forced to buy food and utilities on credit because they didnt have enough money. This led to greater problems.
The depression caused a rise in crime. People would steal just to survive.
There were many problems in agriculture during the Depression. Farmers were losing money and couldn't afford to plant crops or even keep their house. Also, during this time, farming lands were almost uninhabitable due to the dust storms.
Because of the start of WW2 more jobs were created. Thanks to the war the U.S. was pulled out of The Depression.
