A town could be heard and smelt from a distance because people don't throw away trash.
Peasants usually live in poorly constructed wood houses. Usually they were very cramped with other families! x2 facts.
Peasants and other workers also like going to church because it gave them time off of farming and work.
Popes and other church leaders were very powerful people and could turn a kingdom against itself.
If you were a peasant usually you would go to a church not a cathedral because cathedrals were for the rich.
Pickpockets are common in medieval towns and try to steal people money or stuff.
Towns are where people live, trade, and beg for resources! Also merchants and other guilds sold here.
If someone accused you of something but had no evidence they would do trial by ordeal or trial by combat to see who was right or evil.
If you were caught pick pocketing or other crimes you would be sent and the king or lord would decide if you will be hanged or put in stocks
In trial by ordeal you would be tied up and thrown into a well if you floated you would be a witch and killed or thrown into a dungeon. If you sank your were innocent. Either way you die.
Dungeons were usually crowded places and full of disease and bad living conditions. Families or friends would be the only ones who would supply food.
In trial by combat two people fought and god would pick the winner.
