Storyboard Text

  • Stanley : A man who has two sides to him. He likes to be in control but also has a soft spot for family and friends. He often shows a lack of the ability to accept women in power .Overall a family man with a hiden mean streak.
  • QUOTE #1
  • "Tiger-tiger! Drop the bottle-top! Drop it! We've had this date with each other from the beginning!"
  • This moment takes place seconds before Stanley rapes his sister-in-law. This seems to be no big deal to him because proving that he's a man is his first priority. It's not that he's even attracted to Blanche he just has to show her that he's in charge.
  • this relates to society because men strive to display the power they have in the wrong ways.
  • QUOTE #2
  • " In the state of Louisiana we have the Napoleonic code according to which what belongs to the wife belongs to the husband and vice versa."
  • In this moment you see how Stanley craves to be in control and wants his wife to know that he is the man of the house. This is similar to society now because men are known to be very possessive .
  • In both moments you see how gender plays a big role in this society. Stanley is a perfect example of that because throughout the play he shows a soft spot for his family and friends but as soon as Blanche shows up playing the independent role he takes offense to that because he thinks women should depend on a man to take care of them. This triggers alot of his issues with his anger.
