  • I'm tired brother, wait, don't leave me!
  • The setting is in southern US. This is where the narrator and his baby brother, Doodle, live.
  • Falling Action
  • Brother, brother, wait, please don't leave me!
  • The narrator is ashamed that Doodle can't walk so e tries teaching him. While sitting at the table for lunch, they see a bright red bird. The bird then dies and Doodle has a connection with the bird.
  • Resolution
  • After a long day of training, Doodle cannot handle any more. The narrator decides to go home.
  • By:
  • The narrator decides to turn back and get Doodle, because the storm is getting very bad and his crying is getting louder. When he arrives Doodle is dead, lying under a bush. Doodle looks like the Scarlet Ibis did.
  • The narrator then thinks of how his own pride cost him his brother life.
  • Brother, brother, wake up!
