  • Americans Welcome!
  • New Mexican dictator
  • Battle of Gonzales.
  • Mexicans begin to allow Americans to settle in Texas as long as they learn Spanish and convert to Catholicism. They hoped this would keep the United States from attacking Mexico   
  • The Battle at the Alamo
  • A New Dictator Named Santa Anna came into power. He wanted to disarm the Texans because he saw them as a threat.
  • The Battle of San Jacinto
  • The battle of Gonzales started when Mexican soldiers were sent to disarm the people of Gonzales of their small cannon the cannon had been spiked and could not fire. There where only 18 men in Gonzales when the Mexican army arrived.
  • Texas Statehood
  • The Alamo was held down by 200 Texans the Mexican army wanted to attack and take the fort originally belonging to them. A army of some 200 men attacked the fort the defenders held out for 13 days  but eventually the Mexican forces broke through the wall and killed all soldiers inside very few woman and children were spared.
  • The battle of San Jacinto  only lasted 20 minutes the Texan forces attacked the Mexican army and killed 600 soldiers and captured 730 including Santa Anna.
  • After Santa Anna signed a treaty saying Texas was no longer part of Mexico
