  • Exposition

  • The narrator was in his room reading a book and fell asleep, then he heard tapping at the door. He thought it was just a visitor.
  • Falling Action
  • His heart starts to beat faster and stronger, he said out loud, that he was napping. Then he went up to the door and opened it, but no body was there, only darkness.
  • Resolution
  • Then he heard tapping at the window, he went to open it and a raven flew in. It landed on a statue above the door. The narrator kept asking the bird questions, but the raven only answered "Nevermore".
  • Personification
  • I talk.
  • The narrator tells the raven to "take thy beak from out my heart" which means he is telling it to leave him alone because its already ruined all his hopes in life, and now he won't be able to move on past Lenore.
  • The raven is still sitting on the statue above his door, and the narrator is now just lying on the floor from sorrow and misery. So the bird leaves, and he doesn't have to go crazy from the raven anymore.
  • For personification, in this story, there was a talking bird.
