  • in 1915 a German geologist named alfred Wegener first composed the theory of continental drift.
  • which states that parts of the earths crust slowly drift atop a liquid core. Sea floor spreading is a process that occurs at mid ocean ridges where new oceanic crust is formed.
  • wegner explored that the continents looked like puzzle pieces and that they looked like they all formed and came together. The continents once formed a land mass it broke up the continents then drifted to thier present locations
