In the book, The Christmas Carol, Scrooge is faced with tests of his kindness. He does not give money, or say "Merry Christmas!". All of these events cause an effect of the ghosts haunting him and showing him his grave. Even though he is a mean man, he still has a heart which is growing because of all the memories the ghosts are showing. He changes from a antagonist to a protagonist just by all the ghosts showing him his life and is what to come if he keeps all of this up. There are chains for all the deeds he failed to do. The chain length of his, is so long it will way him down.
