The boys get stranded on an island, and aren't scared at all, in fact they are happy not to have adults on the island. "No grownups!"(Golding 8).
The boys climb the mountain and try to start the fire with Piggy's glasses. Piggy was very cautious and scared that the boys messed up. "There ain't nothing we can do. We ought to be more careful. I'm scared-" (Golding 45). Reality finally set in for piggy when the fire spread.
Angry Jack goes out into the forest and tries to hut a pig. he was so hungry but came up short. "Hard patter of hoofs, a castanet sound, seductive, maddening- the promise of meat." (Golding 49). Jack was scared of hunger.
I'm calling a meeting!
Ralph watched the group get out of hand and so like a good leader he said "I'm calling an assembly." He was scared he lost his team morale and hoped to get get it back.
There has been talk of having a monster on the island, so Ralph being a good leader denies the fact of that."Beast! Where from? Of course we're frightened sometimes but we put up with being frightened." (Golding 82)
There is no MONSTER!!!
Ralph and Jack went to go search for the beast after a report of seeing it. "He led the way over the rocks, inspected a sort of half-cave that held nothing more terrible than the clutch of rotten eggs." (Golding 106)
