Battle of Shiloh
The Union Major Robert Anderson went up against the Confederate General P.G.T Beauregard when the Confederacy bombed them surprisingly when the Union refused to leave Fort Sumter.
The Union marched (under General Irvin McDowell) towards the Confederate army, which were under General P.G.T Beauregard. Although the Union was winning, reinforcements forced them to retreat.
In the morning, 40,000 soldiers under the command of General Albert Sidney Johnston of the Confederacy stopped the Union dead in their tracks. The Union was so unprepared that they were driven off of their camp.
