  • Orpheus lived on Parnassus for a while with his Mother, Aunts and Apollo. He grew up to be a poet since his mother taught him to sing and make versus. His dad taught him to play a musical instrument called the lyre
  • Meeting with the Mentor
  • His wife got bit by a snake that killed her. He plans to go to the underworld to go and rescue his dead wife. He refuses to sing for everyone and anything
  • Crossing the Threshold
  • The hero is not reluctant at first but he refused to do things such as singing for everyone.
  • Tests
  • There are no specific mentors, but his father taught him how to play a lyre and sing. Because of that he got granted to take his wife back from the underworld.
  • Orpheus had to get by a three headed dog that guarded the passageway to the underworld. He also had to ask Hades and Persephone to release his wife
  • Orpheus must go through Cerberus, the monstrous three-headed dog who guarded the gates of the underworld. He must also go through Hades and Persephone to be granted to see his wife again.
