  • Prince Siddhartha was a rich Prince who had all the luxuries of life.
  • Siddhartha left his palace to see the world. He saw four things that disturbed him. First he saw an old man.
  • He saw a sick man and learned about illnesses that make people suffer.
  • He saw death and witnessed preparation for a cremation.
  • He saw an ascetic munk.
  • Siddhartha searched for an answer to the sufferings of life. He first became an ascetic, but learned his path  was not solving his problems. He adapted the middle way.
  • Siddhartha meditated under a tree and reached Nirvana and enlightenment. He became Buddha- the awakened one.
