  • Japan Colonization and Imperialism
  • Now's our chance, we MUST declare war on China!!
  • U.S. Oil and Steel Embargo on Japan
  • If we want to protect the country, we have to freeze our assets with Japan.
  • Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and the Surprise Attack
  • INCOMING!!!
  • Because Japan's military had grown, they wanted to conquer more land. They had decided to go after China, but needed to overthrow the Philippines.
  • U.S. Enters the War
  • We have to declare war on Japan! We have to do something!
  • To avoid conflict and war, FDR had decided to cut off the assetsto Japan. This included steel and oil.
  • FDR & the "Date Which Will Live in Infamy"
  • This is a date which will live in infamy...
  • This Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was the sole reason for the U.S. entering the war.
  •  Japanese Internment Camps
  • After the Pearl Harbor attack, the U.S. decided to enter the war. The declare of war on Japan had pulled the U.S. out of the Great Depression.
  • Yes sir! We understand...
  • Upon entering the war, FDR made a speech to inform the nation about what was happening between the two  countries.
  • When the U.S. was at war with Japan, Japanese Americans were being discriminated.  They were sent to internment camps to live in solitude away from others.
  • Dad, I want to go home!
