Storyboard Text

  • Ordinary World
  • Call to Adventure
  • ???????????
  • Refusal
  • Arachne, a skilled weaver, lives in Ledia of Northern Greece. While she is very skilled and talented, she is also very vain and boastful woman.
  • Mentor / Helper
  • Someone asks Arachne who taught her to weave, and they ask if Athena taught her to weave.
  • Crossing the Threshold
  • Arachne gets offended and announces that she can weave better than Athena can. She even says that Athena could learn from her.
  • Test / Allies / Enemies
  • Athena comes down from above with a plan to teach Arachne a lesson in respecting the gods.
  • Athena challenges Arachne to a competition of weaving three days after their encounter. If Arachne lost, she would never be able to weave silk again. The competition would be judged by Zeus in the clouds above.
  • Arachne agrees to the challenge. Zeus looms above to judge her and Athena, while Athena is her rival in this case. While Athena is her rival now, she is also technically an ally because she wishes to help Arachne realize her mistake.
