A French colonist named the area New France.
Samuel de Champlain built the first permanent French settlement in Quebec
To make money, France used the first trade. This is when France skins beaver and uses their fur to make fancy, expensive hats. These hats appealed to rich people and they paid a lot of money to have these hats.
The fur trade brought France in Britain into a conflict.
However in 1713 the two European powers signed and agreement to keep the peace.
