  • INTRODUCTION
  • The Seven Years War was from 1754 till 1763. During the Seven Years War or The French and Indian War, the British won against France. French were allied with many Native Americans, though few of them sided with the British. The Seven Years War ended with The Treaty of Paris. In the Treaty, France gave up all its territories in North America to Britain. These territories included the 13 American Colonies. Therefore, the British ruled over these American colonies until the revolutionary war. (1)
  • NOW WE OWN AMERICAN COLONIES ALSO!
  • CAUSE: SUGAR ACT
  • You need to pay extra tax for sugar and molasses.
  • OH MY GOD! So many taxes.
  • EFFECT: SONS OF LIBERTY
  • Therefore, as British rules over these colonies they changed the laws as they want. They also increased a lot of taxes to make up for the loss in the war. This way American colonists had to listen to them and had no choice. The following are the causes and their effects which lead up to the Revolutionary War between America and British.
  • CAUSE: STAMP ACT
  • YES! More taxations, this time on any type of paper.
  • The Sugar act was an act passed by the parliament, where the colonists had to pay tax for sugar and molasses. They had to pay six pence per gallon of molasses. The money was used for the war debt. This law was a modified version of the Sugar and Molasses act in 1733. This act went into effect on April 5, 1764. (2)
  • EFFECT: BOYCOTT
  • BOYCOTT!!! BOYCOTT!!!
  • The Sons of Liberty was an secret organization that was formed to fight taxation by the British Government. It was used to protest against all the laws the British government created. It was also the Sons of Liberty that ransacked the houses of British officials. Samuel Adams were the founders of the Sons of Liberty. (3)
  • CAUSE: QUATERING ACT
  • From now onwards we will be living with you and you have to supply with all the needs like food, water and clothes.
  • This shows that once the stamp act was passed by the parliament to the American colonies, the people got irritated and wanted to protest against the parliament. The stamp act was an act by the British that states any paper bought requires a stamp stating that they have paid the tax for that paper. The stamp act went into effect in 1765.
  • Have you heard about the Stamp Act?
  • We need to start a protest and stand up for our colonies.
  • This shows the type of protest American colonists were doing against the British Parliament. "Taxation without representation" was a quote created by the American colonists saying that no representatives from the colonies  were allowed to have a say in any of the taxes. Therefore, American colonists boycott all British goods from America. (4)
  • TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!!!
  • Stop all the taxes!!
  • This act was when the parliament created a law, where the colonists need to house all the British soldiers. This is made the colonists very angry as they had to pay taxes for their provisions and barracks and also because they were invading their privacy. This act went into effect on May 15, 1765
