Dred Scott was born in Virginia in the 1790's
Dred Scott was sold to Dr.Emerson in 1832
Scott and Emerson move to the free state of Illinois.
Soon after, the Scotts moved to Missouri with the Emerson Family
Dred Scott later married Harriett Robinson and had 2 daughters
Dr.Emerson died in 1843 so Scott went to the widow of Emerson (Mrs. Emerson) to try and buy his freedom for him and his family which was declined
Scott has not stopped fighting even after 10 years, but eventually Ms. Emerson remarried to a man named Peter Blow who granted freedom for Scott and his family in 1857
Dred Scott went to court two times and lost the first time but he gained his freedom the second time only to have it taken again after two years.
Sadly in 1858 Dred Scott died of tuberculosis. Dred Scott has worked almost his whole life fighting for freedom not just for him but his family and what matters is he accomplished a goal that was worthwhile.
