Storyboard Text

  • Everyone in the village gathers in the town square for the annual lottery. (Exposition)
  • Mr. Summers begins the lottery. Bill Hutchinson selects the paper with the black dot. Therefore, his family must draw slip again. Tessie objects and claims the selection is unfair. (Rising Action)
  • O
  • It's not fair!
  • Each member of the Hutchinson family chooses a slip of paper from the box. All of the slips are blank, except Tessie's. She becomes hysterical. (Climax)
  • 0
  • The villagers select their stones, from the pile gathered earlier, and begin to surround Tessie. (Falling Action)
  • Tessie pleads with the crowd and is hit in her head. Her cries are ignored as Old Man Warner encourages the crowd. The crowd attacks her. (Conflict Resolution)
  • Come on, everbody!
  • The End
