Macbeth goes to confront the witches to see what is wrong with him because he keeps seeing the ghost of Banquo. They tell him to beware of Macduff and they show him that in the future Banquo's family line will be king.
Lady Macduff and Ross are discussing how Macduff has fled the country. Ross leaves because he doesn't know what to say to Lady Macduff.
Lady Macduff and her son are talking and a man enters. Her son tells the murder something he doesn't want to hear, so he kills him. Now the son is dead.
Macbeth is thinking about what he found out while talking with the witches. He is now planning to fight and kill Macduff.
Malcolm and Macduff are talking because Macduff fled to England to get Malcolm to join forces with him to kill Macbeth, so Malcolm can become king. Malcolm doessn't think he can trust Macduff, but by the end of their conversation he can trust him, and he decides to join him to defeat Macbeth.
