A summary of chapters 1-6 from Hatchet
Brian Robeson is flying to Canada to visit his father because his parents are divorced so Brian spends split time with them. On the way to the airport, Brian's mother gives him a hatchet because she says it will help him when he is with his dad. However, in the middle of the flight, the pilot has a heart attack and dies.
Alone on the plane, Brian struggles to control the plane while trying to contact people to know about the situation.The plane runs out of fuel and Brian is about to crash
Brian crash-lands the plane in a lake. He swims out and rests on land.
Brian wakes up, then falls asleep. Then wakes up, then falls asleep. Then when he wakes up again, it is dawn. Just when the sun is rising, a swarm of mosquitoes and flies attack him. He takes in the scenery of the forest and falls asleep again
When Brian wakes up again, he is extremely thirsty and sore. He drinks a lot of the lake water and immediately throws up. He starts thinking, thinking about if there would be anyone coming to rescue him. He looks at everything he has and remembers how the plane went off course.
Brian finds a shelter, then he followed the birds to an area with berries. At sunset, Brian returns to his shelter and falls asleep.
