The nitrogen cycle starts with the nitrogen in the atmosphere going into the ground and dirt.
Nitrogen fixation is when the gas nitrogen in the atmosphere and turns it into ammonia.
Then once the ammonia is made, nitification happens and is turned into nitrate and some of the nitrogen goes into protein synthesis and some goes back to the atmosphere.
When the nitrite and the other nitrite come to together they go through protein synthesis carrying the nitrogen and making protein.
The proteins made by the nitrites go into the plants above ground and the animals(herbivores) eat the plants getting the protein and that is the food chain which now the nitrogen has gone all the way into the animals.
Denitrification is when the ammonia was turned into nitrate, the nitrogen that went back into the atmosphere. This is when this process happened.
