Gregor wakes up as a bug, but Kafka doesn't tell us what kind of "vermin" he is. This adds to the idea that Gregor or anyone else can understand who he truly is.
After Kafka writes how Gregor had turned into a bug, he then describes Gregor's room by calling it a "regular human room." The fact that he says "regular" and "human" juxtapose with his abnormal transformation .
Kafka also describes a picture of a women hung on Grego's wall. The picture doesn't only represent Gregor's human desires, but it also symbolizes his former humanity because he had made that picture frame and torn out that picture while he was still human.
