The inciting incident was introduced by Rainsfort falling off the boat, "He struggled up to the surface and tried to cry out, but the wash from the speeding yacht slapped him in the face, and the salt water in his open mouth made him gag and strangle" (Connell 63).
The rising action starts when the general said, "We will have some capital hunting, you and I, I shall be most glad to have your society" (Connell 68).
The climax was when the general was hunting Raisford and found him, "Rainsford held his breath. The general's eyes had left the ground and were traveling inch by inch up the tree" (Connell 76).
The falling action was introduced when Rainsford snuck in the generals room, "A man, who had been hiding in the curtains of the bed, was standing there" (Connell 80).
The resolution was when Rainsford killed the general, "I see," he said. "Splendid! One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard Rainsford. . . . He has never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided" (Connell 80).
