  • FDR is dead my guy.
  • it is my time to run this country
  • One peaceful afternoon on April 12, 1945, Theodore Roosevelt falls out of his chair unconscious on a retreat in Georgia. The 26th president of the United States died that day. (Page 160)
  • we have an atomic bomb
  • i am very scared
  • The first lady at the time, Eleanor Roosevelt, informs Vice President Harry Truman that the president has died. Truman doesn't know how to react. (Page 161/62)
  • good thinking, truman. you are truly a decent president
  • Harry Truman takes over as POTUS by law. It is a hard time to be president because of current conflict with outside countries and within the US. He is now informed about the Manhattan Project by Henry Stimson, the Secretary of War. (Page 161)
  • Truman meets with Joseph Stalin in Potsdam, with the purpose of intimidating him with the knowledge of the United States having an atomic bomb. Here, the Potsdam declaration is signed by Truman, Stalin, and British leader Winston Churchill. The declaration concerned the Japanese and their surrender in WWII. (194)
  • Truman is now responsible for making the final call on whether the now completed Atomic Bomb is dropped Hiroshima or not. He determines that it will be better to cause destruction and death in a country that the United States have conflict with and will not surrender anyway than to lose hundreds of thousands of American lives. (196)
  • After the bomb is successfully dropped, Truman officially informs America that the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and lets them know about the project. (220)
