Can you please check that this crown is made from pure gold and is not mixed with silver?
The volume of the crown is more than the volume of the gold which means that this crown is not pure gold. EUREKA!
When an object is put in water, the volume of water displaced is equal to the volume of the object. As more water was displaced from the crown than the gold, the crown could not have been made from pure gold and silver or a lighter metal was used.
