  • European Adventures in Georgia
  • WHERE IS THE GOLD!! I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR DAYS!
  • English Colonization
  • I love this colony! Don't you?!
  • Yea it is great and has many friendly people.
  • The first natives to encounter the Europeans were the Mississippian natives. They were the most complex natives of Georgia. They used large scale farming for food and they used guard towers. Most of the population was killed because of the factor of fear, because the natives hadn't seen white people before, better armor and weapons, and most of all, diseases like small pox.
  • Hernando De Soto was the first European to discover parts of Georgia. The main reason he came was for gold. When he reached Georgia his men started to convert the natives to Christians. They also claimed land for Spain so they would have more power against big countries like England and France. The only interactions they had with the natives was fighting. They killed many natives with the diseases they brought over and the better technology they had.
  • The first European country to settle along the Atlantic coast was Britain. The factor that lead to a successful colony was that John Rolfe came over to Jamestown and planted tobacco seeds. Tobacco became a major cash crop and the population increased dramatically. After Britain, France, and Spain colonized Georgia became a buffer zone which basically means it was a neutral zone and it protected them from each other.
