Jonas notices the apple has changed
Jonas notices the change in Fiona's hair and decides to tell The Giver
The Giver gives him memories of color and nature
When the apple was soaring through the air, Jonas noticed that it changed. His world is in a “mode” set as “Sameness” where the land is flat and there is no color or weather. Since he was chosen to be the new receiver, he would receive memories from a time where there was color and rain. He had started to see the color red before he even knew his assignment.
Later in the story, he decided to describe his experience to The Giver, as he had just had another experience because he saw his friend Fiona’s hair change when he was walking into the annex.
The giver then taught him about colors. He learned more of them and it gave him wisdom. Since he learned about the colors, he begins to question the way they are living.
