  • I can't believe the soldiers are staying in our towns!
  • Me too!
  • I'm so angry!
  • I miss my family..
  • The colonists are also angry at us for staying in their towns, having them mad at us makes it even worse!
  • When will I get to go home..?
  • Lobsterback!
  • Back away!
  • We're angry!
  • In 1770, the colonists were very angry that the British soldiers were still living in their towns. They thought the soldiers were rude and disrespectful.
  • No! We're angry!
  • You guys need to go home now or I will be forced to get other soldiers out here.
  • No! We have something to say!
  • The soldiers were also sad and angry that they were away from their family and that the colonists were mad at them.
  • I need more soldiers out at the Customs House! There is an angry crowd!
  • Don't shoot!
  • No!
  • Eventually, the colonists go so angry that they started calling the soldiers names like "lobsterback".
  • Hm.. I'll send them a letter so they all know.
  • One cold, windy night on March 5th, colonists gathered around the Customs House that 1 soldier was guarding. The Customs House was where taxes were collected.
  • The soldier got more soldiers out to the Customs house and one soldier said he heard the command "Fire!" So, he shot his gun into the crowd of people. 5 people were dead and about 6 were hurt.
  • After the massacre happened, Samuel Adams made sure to let all of the colonies and colonists know this had happened.
