Chaos - a gaping void - was the beginning of everything, surrounded by a flowing stream ruled by the god Oceanus
Gaea (Mother Earth), Uranus (the sky), and Tartarus (the sunless, horrible region beneath the Earth) were born out of Chaos. Gaea and Uranus soon fell in love. But their children were not what they were expecting...
One of the titans was named Cronus. He then married Rhea and had 5 children, Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseiden.
But then, Gaea and Uranus warned Cronus that one of his sons will overpower him someday. So Cronus decided to swallow his children so they wouldn't overpower him. Rhea was very angry.
Rhea didn't want Cronus to swallow his youngest son, Zeus, so gave Zeus to his grandmother to live with her.
But when Zeus grew up, he decided to overthrow his father and save his siblings. So he had the help of the giants to fight with him, but his mother made Cronus a drink so he threw up his children. With the help of the giants (who taught Zeus the power to control lightning), and his siblings, Cronus was then overpowered - and Zeus became the most powerful god, who lived on Mount Olympus in Thessaly.
