Storyboard Text

  • It's a boy!
  • The Buddha was a famous holy man from India, a country in Asia. He was born to King Suddhodana and Queen Maya as Siddhartha Gautama.
  • Soon after his birth, Siddhartha's mother died. Before his birth, she saw a vision that either meant that he would be a great king, or a great holy man. His father wanted him to be a king.
  • And this is how you steal from people.
  • But one day, when Siddhartha left his palace for the first time, he saw three terrible things: A dead man, a sick man, and an old man.
  • And that day, he left his father, wife, and child to go into the world and find out why people aged, got sick, and died.
  • One day, while he was meditating under a tree, he discovered all the world's secrets. He had become a Buddha, free from desire and suffering.
  • After many years of teaching the world, the Buddha died of food poisoning. The world will always remember his teachings of peace, nonviolence, and wisdom.
