  • The New President
  • In 1809 James Madison was inaugurated as the fourth president of the United States.
  • I am glad to announce that I've been elected as president!
  • Impressment and Native American Resistance
  • Native Americans in the Northwest Territory were equipped with muskets from the British and attacked settlers and were led by Tecumseh. Meanwhile overseas, the British were capturing American trade ships and forcing the seamen to fight for the British which disrupted trade.
  • Battle in the Great Lakes and Canada
  • Oliver Hazerd Perry was in charge of the naval unit in Lake Eerie and defeats the British in the Great Lakes. In Canada William Henery Harrison defeat the fleeing British soldiers and Harrison claims to have killed Tecumsah himself.
  • Bombardment of fort McHenery
  • The British lay siege on Fort McHenry for hours and never take it over. An American prisoner named Francis S. Key on a British ship wrote the National Anthem based on this battle.
  • The British try to invade New Orleans but the U.S. army led by Andrew Jackson stops them. The British loose 2000 troops while Jackson only looses 71 even though the war had ended 2 weeks before. Andrew later became a hero and even later, the 7th U.S. president
  • Battle of New Orleans
  • During the War of 1812 the U.S. wasn't able to trade with England so they had to start manufacturing their own stuff causing the manufacturing business to greatly expand.
  • After the War
