  • Social Evolution is the idea that society evolves from simple to complex, from primitive to modern.

  • Stereotypes are a widely held, fixed, oversimplified ideas of a type of person. For example Canadians are always dressed like this and talk and act a certain way.
  • Nathan Radley says to Miss Stephanie, "if anybody sees a white nigger around, that's the one." (chapter 6). He's referring to attempting to shoot african american when he saw someone trespassing. He tried to shoot them because of the colour of their skin and because he thought they were trespassing.

  • Lula tries to stop Calpurnia from bringing Scout and Jem to her church because they are white children. This shows that anyone from anyone can be racist.
