  • Act III Scene I
  • "Romeo, away, begone! The citizens are up, and Tybalt slain" (Shakespeare 3.1.138-139).
  • Act III Scene II
  • "Is Romeo slaughtered and is Tybalt dead?" (Shakespeare 3.2.71).

  • Act III Scene III
  • "Hence 'banishèd' is 'banished from the world,' And world's exile is death" (Shakespeare 3.3.20-21).
  • After Mercutio is slain by Tybalt, Romeo gets revenge by killing Tybalt. The Prince then sends Romeo into exile outside of Verona.
  • Act III Scene IV
  • "O' Thursday, tell her, She shall be married to this noble earl" (Shakespeare 3.4.23-24).
  • Juliet receives word from the nurse explaining that Romeo is banished and Tybalt is dead. The nurse promises that Juliet will see Romeo again.
  • Act III Scene V
  • "Hath sorted out a sudden day of joy..." (Shakespeare 3.5.114).
  • Romeo finds out that he has been banished and is promised one night with Juliet before leaving.
  • Capulet promises that Paris and Juliet will get married on the upcoming Thursday.
  • Juliet is told the date of her wedding, which she refuses. She is told to forget Romeo and she seeks for help from the Friar.
