• ANOTHER DAY IN MATH CLASS.
• Teacher: Come ask for help, if you need help. We have a quiz tmrw on what we learnt today.
• This is kind of hard. I don't understand.
• Ohhhh okay. Now i get it.
• I'm kind of stuck. Can you help me Jack?
• I'm going to go to the washroom.
• Sure, i'll help. Let's just say your equation is f(x)= -8x + 32x - 16.
• First, you want the coefficient of the squared term to be one. So, factor -8 out of the first 2 values. Put brackets around the first 2 values and leave -16 outside the bracket.
• Eliminate, the -4 inside the bracket by multiplying it by the a-value -8. Add (-8 x -4 = 32) 32 outside the bracket.
• Take, the b-value, - 4 and divide by 2 then square to give yourself 4. Now add +4 and -4 in the bracket.
• Thank you so much Jack.
• There you have it the answer should be = -8 (x-2) + 16 .
• Find a number that multiplies to +4 and adds to -4. Re-write the equation but inside the bracket use x and the number found in the previous step then square the bracket. Simplify, the 2 numbers that are outside the bracket.
