  • Henry's First Marriage:
  • I do!
  • Do you take this woman to be your wife and this man to be your husband?
  • I do!
  • Henry Breaks All Ties With The Church:
  • I AM MORE POWERFUL THAN THE CHURCH NOW!
  • Henry's Second Marriage:
  • I hope that what ever happened to his last wife doesn't happen to me!
  • I hope I don't have to marry again in order to get a son.
  • King Henry married a spanish woman named Catherine of Aragon after his older brother died, Arthur, in which had 18 years of marriage with her having only one daughter, Mary of Tudor.
  • Church Of England:
  • King Henry had parliament pass the "Act Of Supremacy" that took the church away from the pope and took control due to the church not divorcing his first wife in order to have a son to be his next heir as king.
  • Religious Turmoil:
  • Thomas Crammer annulled his first marriage since the pope wouldn't in order for him to marry Anne Boleyn which was Henry's second wife who had a daughter, Elizabeth, and then he married 4 more times till he got a son, Edward, to take his place as king as the next generation.
  • Elizabethan Settlement:
  • Between 1536 & 1540 King Henry closed all convents & monasteries of England and declared himself the head of the church in which he gained the land & wealth of religious officials that he then gave to nobles for the formation of the Anglican Church in effect by the "Act Of Supremacy."
  • When King Henry died in 1547, Cranmer put together a "Book Of Common Prayer" that was used in the new church that had Protestant services as well as Catholic doctrines that created a conflict with in the Anglican Church.
  • We are on strike! WE WANT JUSTICE FOR OUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS!
  • When Mary died Elizabeth took the throne as queen and adopted a policy of religious compromise in which she gradually enforced reforms that both Protestants & Catholics could agree upon.
  • I SHALL RESTORE ODER AND GIVE THE JUSICE THAT IS DESERVED TO REGAIN PEACE IN MY KINGDOM!
