  • Hinduism
  • Let's talk about Hinduism in Canada. 1% of Canadians are Hindu, most of which are immigrants like myself.
  • Hinduism has a strong historical background!
  • Our scriptures, known as the Vedas & Upanishads, are written in the ancient language of India called Sanskrit. The Upanishads are interpretations of the Vedas, added onto the end of each one. These writings have formed the type of Hinduism we know and love today.
  • There were 3 periods of history. The Pre-Vedic Period The Vedic Period & The Upanishadic Period
  • Another ritual is called Havan. It involves offering fire to supreme deities.
  • Hinduism has many interesting Rituals as well. Puja is the most common type of ritual, which involves the worshiping of one or more deities. It is achieved through; sounds, light, washing, food, scents, and prayers
  • In Hinduism, all life is governed by a law of birth death and rebirth. All must return to the world after death. This is known as the wheel of life or Samsara
  • Our goal is to be freed from the wheel of life, this liberation from rebirth is commonly known as moksha. This is achieved by the following ones duty or "dharma" so as to be reborn in a higher state.
  • Having a good "karma" increases ones chance of achieving Moksha
  • Thank you for learning about Hinduism with us.
  • We love to help inform people of our religion.
  • Namaste
