  • Horatius Colcles single-handedly defended Rome on a bridge over the Tiber, setting the precedent of sacrificing for Rome.
  • Impressive. I guess I won't execute you.
  • After an attempted assassination on Porsenna, the Etruscan leader, Caius Mucius plunged his hand into fire to avoid execution.
  • AAAAAH!
  • We deserve rights!
  • The plebeians seceded from Rome because they were treated poorly, and Publicola got them to return by telling them that they were an important part of the body of Rome and by  giving them a magistrate called the Tribune.
  • But you're part of Rome's body, and you can have rights.
  • Good thing we wrote down the laws.
  • (This guy times 10)
  • The plebeians were given the Tribune of the Plebeians, who represented them,, and the 12 tables, which state all the laws.
  • all the laws! (the 12 Tables)
  • So you're not dictator any more?
  • Nope. War's over.
  • Cincinnatus was appointed dictator for a war, but left office once the war ended.
  • Death to Rome!
  • After refusing to turn the Fabii over to the Gauls, the Gauls sacked Rome, destroying much of the city before they were finally stopped.
