Money was always tight to maintain their stylish and expensive life.
A woman married a handsome man, and had three children together. Hardness started to form in her heart; therefore, she couldn't show natural affection towards her children, nor husband.
Her son Paul discovered she was unlucky because of marrying her husband. He promised to prove to her that he was lucky.
I know I can be lucky for mother. I'll win money for her so the house's voices will stop.
Paul started to learn how to gamble on the horse races by their gardener, Bassett. Then, his uncle found out of his gambling. When his Uncle Oscar saw he was correct on most of the winners of the horse races, he joined them, and was making some money of his own.
Paul secretly gave his mother some of his winnings, but she just spent it all on clothing.
One night, Paul's mother found him furiously riding his rocking horse. He all of a sudden knew exactly who would win the next race but passed out and fall off his horse.
He became gravely sick 3 days later. Bassett told him that he was right who won the race. Sadly, Pual died later in the night.
