Valentina Tereshkova was born in 1937 in Maslennikovo, northeast of Moscow
Her parents worked on a collective farm but his father was asked to fight in the World War II
Valentina's father was killed during World War II
Valentina left school when she was 16 and started to work at a textile factory but continued her education
She joined the factory's Young Communist League (Komsomol) and soon advanced to the Communist Party
Valentina became interested in parachute jumping after joining the Yaroslavl Air Sports Club
