Man—who crawls on all fours as a baby, then walks on two feet as an adult, and then uses a walking stick in old age.
Laius gave the baby which was Oedipus and Laius gave that baby to his servant who is a Shepherd and ordered the Shepherd to leave him on top of the Cithaeron's Mountains and kill him. Laius was afraid the prophecy would come true that he would be murdered by his own son.
Oedipus comes along and bests the Sphinx 's riddle. The Sphinx then commits suicide.
Polybus, your father, no longer is alive. He's dead.
At that time Laius was married to Jocasta before Laius was killed and that Oedipus married Jocasta.
The woman who found him on the mountain and saved him. This woman was supposed to kill off baby Oedipus but she didn't.
Even though his father has died Oedipus is still afraid of his father who had died although his mother Merope is still alive.
Oedipus stabs his eyes out with Jocasta's brooches because all he sees is ugly and nothing sweet.
